17 Oct On Tour in Italy
In April 2019 I came to Italy to expand my horizons. I came to visit and work at different studios, to meet other sculptors to exchange ideas and working methods, source new marble and tools and to learn anything that could help my art.
It is now October and I have rented a tiny cottage near Pietrasanta with a sea view on a terrace in the middle of a wood, high on the mountainside and have eaten good food and drunk a lot of coffee. I have worked at some inspiring studios and have met many sculptors, had many discussions and made some good friends in the process.
Pietrasanta has the nickname of “Little Athens”. Although it is gradually changing, it is still a Mecca for sculptors and considered a haven of art and culture. It is a fertile place to work. You prepare the soil, sow the seeds and then see what comes up. So far so good!
